Dr. Schaefer was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa. She received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Iowa State University in 2002, and her Doctorate of Optometry from Nova Southeastern College of Optometry in 2006.
Dr. Schaefer then completed a Cornea and Contact Lens Residency at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, College of Optometry in 2007. After residency, Dr. Schaefer practiced in Coralville, Iowa and has been seeing patients at the Eye Care Pavilion since June 2010.
She is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Society, the Iowa Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. In the community she is an active member of the Brown Deer Women's golf league. Dr. Schaefer and her husband have two cats, Jade and Daisy. In her free time, she enjoys reading, golfing, and making jewelry and cards.
